How to compress an image
- Choose up to 10 still JPG, PNG or WebP images.
- Set a maximum file size in KB and choose JPG or WebP output. Allow smaller dimensions only if the destination permits them.
- Compress, inspect the measured size and dimensions, then download. “Limit not met” means the result is still above your target.
What happens to quality and dimensions?
The compressor tries JPEG or WebP quality settings and can reduce dimensions when allowed. Turn off “Allow smaller dimensions” to preserve the selected dimensions. PNG output is available in Convert images, but target-size PNG compression is not supported.
Files already within the limit and in the selected format are kept unchanged when no resizing is requested. Other outputs are re-encoded.
Supported files and limits
Inputs: still JPG, PNG and WebP. Outputs: JPG and WebP. Up to 10 images per batch, 20 MB each and 40 megapixels per input. Output is limited to 16,384 pixels per edge and 40 megapixels. HEIC, GIF, SVG, PDF, animated PNG and animated WebP are not supported. Large images may exceed your device’s available memory.
Privacy, orientation and metadata
Selected files, filenames and previews stay in this browser page. Samples are fetched from this website only when selected. Start over clears the app’s file references; downloaded files remain on your device. Re-encoded images use the browser’s orientation handling and may change color profiles or remove EXIF and other metadata. An unchanged original keeps its original metadata.
